Day trip to Zadar

During my stay in Šimuni, I went on a wonderful day trip to the old town of Zadar - and I can only say that it was absolutely worth it!

Zadar is really not far from Šimuni. It took me about an hour to get there by car. The route leads through beautiful coastal landscapes and small Dalmatian villages - perfect for getting in the mood for the flair of the city.

As soon as you arrive in the old town, you immediately sense the special atmosphere. Zadar is located directly on the sea, on a small peninsula, and combines historic buildings with modern city life. I just let myself drift - through narrow alleyways, past old stone houses and Roman remains.

A highlight for me was the sea organ (Morske orgulje). The waves actually create music there - a unique experience! Right next to it is the "Greeting to the Sun" - a modern installation that lights up beautifully, especially in the evening.

I was also impressed by the Church of St. Donatus and the Roman Forum. It's fascinating to see how history from different eras come together here - Roman, Byzantine, Venetian.

In between, I had a coffee in one of the small street cafés and simply let my gaze wander over the sea. The atmosphere in Zadar is relaxed but lively - just right for a day trip.

In the afternoon, I took a stroll along the promenade and enjoyed the clear water and warm sunshine. Before heading back to Šimuni, I treated myself to a delicious ice cream - with a view of the sunset, for which Zadar is famous.

So if you are ever in the vicinity of Šimuni: Zadar is not to be missed! The city has a perfect mix of culture, history and Mediterranean lifestyle. I will definitely be back.
